Things I'm loving!

I am loving this weather at the moment simply because it seems to make Master T sleep longer :) it certainly doesn't help get my washing dry or make trips into town very easy but I'm loving it anyway. Especially with a nice roaring fire!

I'm sure it must be a first born thing but am just loving capturing my boy in heaps of different moods... I wish I was as photogenic as him haha

Romantic dinners once the baby is in bed. Even if the meal is only lamb meatballs on top of spaghetti with a homemade pasta sauce in amongst the piles of wet washing in the lounge...

Things I'm loving!

Wow is it cold today or what? Lovely day for blogging though with a hot cuppa and nice toasty fire mmm

Snapped this shot when we got home yesterday... Oops - don't tell plunket!

Love love LOVE these super cute sari nappies. The photos just don't do them justice. Please Lord make me a fantastic sewer so that I can whip some of these puppies up when we have a girl next time round (hint hint)

New Ideas and Inspirations
I'm currently working on about 10 projects at once and just don't seem to be able to process everything. Hence a few sleepless nights for me. Writing it down hasn't worked either. Oh well, I'll be busy for the next 4years probably with everything that's been on my mind. There's just so many things to do and so little time (which will only get worse with more than one kid I'm pretty sure) but at least I can safely say that I'm not losing this.

New Moisturiser
I know it's for baby but it feels so good on! Totally natural, reasonably cheap and comes in a super cute bottle! The only thing that's not so wonderful about this product is the smell. It's not bad obviously or I wouldn't wear it but not something I really like either such as a nice citrus/floral blend with just the right hint of musk mmmm.

Making funny faces for the camera
Luckily my master 0.45 loves the camera and doesn't mind me taking a million shots of him haha here's a few that are my favs at the moment...

Blackberry and Apple Teacake

This cake is beautifully moist and absolutely delicious. It does take a wee bit of time to prepare but is well worth the effort. And you can always just buy some stewed apple from Surplus Direct for cheap or a can from the supermarket if you don't have apples or simply can't be bothered making the apple jam. Or if you are super efficient like my mum, you have probably already stocked up your cupboards with homemade bottled apple!

So here is the recipe...
1 egg, separated
1/2 cup castor sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 cup Self Raising flour
125g butter, melted
3/4 cup frozen berries (Ie. blackberries, cranberries, raspberries, etc.)
apple jam*

Grease a 20cm cake tin and preheat oven to 180deg C.

Beat egg white until stiff then beat in egg yolk. Gradually add sugar while beating. Stir in milk slowly. Beat in flour and melted butter until smooth. Fold in berries.

Pour 1/2 of the cake mixture into the tin. Spread or just dollop 1/2 of the apple jam on top. Pour the rest of the batter over. Bake for about 30mins.

Turn out, brush with butter (optional) and dust with caster sugar or icing sugar. Serve warm with the rest of the apple jam and cream or ice cream. Yum!

*Apple jam - peel, core and chop 3 large granny smiths, green or cooking apples. Add 1/4 cup water, cover and cook slowly for 10mins, mashing as they soften. Uncover and add 1/2 cup sugar and a pinch of nutmeg. Cook for 30-40 minutes stirring frequently to prevent burning. Cool before use.

Things I'm loving!

I love it when my baby sleeps for awhile giving me time to do things. Ahh he looks so content while sleeping

Sleeping for longer than 45 minutes

Starting solids yay. I'm not sure how much actually goes into his mouth but he's sleeping through the night again now!!
Solids :)

His new toy that keeps me happy while I'm cooking dinner

My little man. I'm so proud of him

I have never liked hot cross buns, but found this recipe and am loving how easy they are to make!

Loads of new fabric to get creative with

Making my own nappies because I haven't yet found a nappy I'm 100% happy with. We'll see how long it takes before I can present one that works for me.
Fun with cloth nappies

I'm back!

After a long sabbatical from blogging, I finally got around to setting up a new blog. I couldn't edit my old one anymore and couldn't work out how to make my wordpress site look any good so here's to the new and improved (and hopefully more regular) me. Here's a wee sneak peek into what's going to be coming up...

Some things I've been working on & plenty more ideas up my sleeve too. Now if only I can get my baby to sleep for more than 45 minutes at a time then I might be able to finish some projects!
